Sweet! Ben & Jerry’s to Go Fair Trade

Ben & Jerry’s is finally going all the way: they announced last week that they will be completely Fair Trade by the end of 2013, with all flavors in all countries produced with Fair Trade Certified ingredients. As the first ice cream company to start using Fair Trade ingredients (in 2005), Ben & Jerry’s is once again leading the way. I hope the ripple effect of this will be huge, both in creating awareness and demand among ice-creamaholics, forcing other competitors to step of and go Fair Trade themselves, and helping farmers all over the world become economically self-sufficient while protecting their natural resources.

Now the only guilt I’ll have with downing that Chunky Monkey will be the fat content. And that I can always run off, right?
