What I’m Eating Now: Equal Exchange Chocolate Hazelnut Bar

by Rick on February 26, 2010

I’m a sucker for chocolate and hazelnut, so when I came across this Equal Exchange hazelnut chocolate bar last week in my local health food store, I just Equal Exchange Organic Fair Trade Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuthad to try it. Wow. The milk chocolate is rich and unbelievably smooth, with just enough hazelnut to add to the flavor without overpowering the chocolate. It’s so good I’ve been nibbling rather than gulping, letting the pure decadence melt on my tongue. To top it off, the bar is both organic and fairly traded, as are all products from Equal Exchange, a pioneer of the Fair Trade movement. Hungry yet? Get one here.

Equal Exchange started nearly 20 years ago selling coffee with a goal of making trade fair to both farmers and consumers, and helped push the concept of Fair Trade into the mainstream. They have developed relationships directly with farmers all over the world, including here in the United States, cutting out the middle man and ensuring that the farmers are fairly compensated. Equal Exchange now sells a wide range of fairly traded and organic coffee, tea, chocolate and snacks.

Eco-friendly products can no longer afford to just be greener – they have to be just as good or better. This chocolate bar more than qualifies as better: decadently delicious and absolutely guilt-free organic Fair Trade chocolate with a hint of hazelnut. I have had a lot of chocolate bars, from Belgian to Cadbury’s, and this amazing treat is one of the best chocolate bars I’ve ever had. I’m not kidding: give it a try.
