Killer Tees. That Won’t Kill You.

Green Label Organic T-ShirtsGreen Label Organic t-shirts more than live up to their name. In addition to being 100% organic cotton, Green Label Organic t-shirts are dyed with eco-conscious low-impact dyes and printed with water-based inks – not the usual PVC or other harsh chemicals. The lack of heavy metals in the printing also contributes to the shirts’ softness and feeling of light. Oh, and they’re made sweatshop-free in the U.S. Natch.

Green Label Organic was a pioneer in the eco t-shirt business, starting out five years ago when virtually no one else would go there. Now they’ve got imitators galore, but few can match the combination of quality, wit and eco-friendly manufacturing practices that George and Rain demand.
Why 100% organic cotton? Conventional cotton is one of the three most pesticide-drenched crops on the planet, receiving more insecticide worldwide than any other single crop, according to the Organic Trade Association. In California alone, farmers dump more than 18 million pounds of pesticide on their cotton crops.

So what? Well, of the nine most commonly used pesticides used on cotton, five are known cancer-causing chemicals. The second most commonly used, Aldicarb, is a highly toxic poison readily absorbed through the skin. Direct contact can kill you in less than 2 hours. You want to wear this stuff? Of course not.

So get your organic on – and have fun doing it! Check out the great selection from Green Label Organic.

We’re hoping Green Label will be able to print some T-shirts for the New River Voice and our new nonprofit foundation. We’ve just touched base with them and hope they can give us an estimate. We want to use a local company and environmentally company to print our shirts if we can afford it!
